We can't believe it's our second Christmas here at the Inn! Jeanne began her traditional holiday treats right after Thanksgiving with daughter, Valerie, during a two-day bake-a-thon. Kitchen creations ranged from Russian Tea Cookies to Brownie Mounds. Among the ten recipes were Rum Balls which lucky guests will get to sample if family hasn't finished them first.....
Our Christmas tree is a 13-footer found at Clover Hollow Farm in Newport. With help from friends visiting from Vermont, John cut and brought the tree home by trailer and we had to use scaffolding to decorate. It is so rewarding to see all our ornaments from the 1930's (our grandparents), ones we collected over 50 years as well as the ones from the Inn's collection. Our annual Christmas party on December 15 brought together neighbors, friends and business partners for a festive and joyful gathering in front of the fireplace and tree.
In November, the Inn hosted a Wine Pairing featuring white Virginia wines described by local wine expert Charles Lytton and creative dishes from Farm to Table Chef Kate Dinger. It was such an fabulous event, December's red Virginia wine and food pairing event was a sell-out. Coming on January 14 is the third in the series and we are honored to be the hosts for such a great food and exceptional Virginia wine pairing experience. I am sure it will be another sell out. Rumor has it, there is a February wine and chocolate pairing planned. Talk about decadent!
We wish all of you a very Happy New Year and look forward to 2016! All of our success is due to our great guests and we thank you all for your great support. John and Jeanne
