Mothers Nature’s Gift To Us All
Autumn has to be, by far, my most favorite time of year. Hikes, football, bonfires, and cozy sweaters are just a few of the things I love most. It is the season of sunny days with a slight chill in the evenings. This time of year shows Mother Nature’s powers at her best. It doesn’t get any prettier than this as the leaves are turning to crimson and gold!
As the days grow shorter and the weather turns crisper, nature brings on the fiery colors of fall foliage making this the perfect time for a weekend getaway. The Inn at Riverbend is located in Giles County, one of the best areas for leaf-peeping and fall festivals. So make plans for a colorful weekend and enjoy a relaxing escape with us this fall.
Experience the romance of our B & B’ hospitality featuring delightful breakfasts of autumn’s harvest from local farmer’s markets. See the Blue Ridge Mountains -- as they are meant to be experienced -- by hiking, kayaking or a car journey along Virginia’s picturesque byways.
The next couple months will be prime time to see nature’s splendor and all it’s glorious colors. Fiery shades of red, orange and yellow will fill the trees tops along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway to the New River Trail State Park and everywhere in between.
Guests of the Inn at Riverbend already want to know the predictions for leaf season this year…………
There really is not simple formula for predicting fall color. Virginia has east and west facing slopes, and varies in elevation from just under 650 feeT to almost 6,000 feet with amazing vistas, foothills and mountain views.
The best plan is to drive some distance, changing elevations and north-south orientation. Any one who does this around late September to early part of November will likely catch at least some sections at or very near peak color.
Make sure to have some extra time to stop off for a glass of wine at a nearby winery like Chateau Morrisette, Villa Appalaccia or a hand crafted artisan hard cider from Foggy Ridge Cider.
So pick your time, but remember to book early so you’re not disappointed and miss out on enjoying one of the best shows Mother Nature has to offer.
