West Virginia Rail-to-Trail at its finest. April 23, 2013

Greenbrier River Trail We were able to take a short break and took two nights off for a visit to the Hinton area of West Virginia. While there we throughougly enjoyed a ride on the Greenbrier River Rail-to-Trail. It is always a sight to see the trailer on Jimm's bike with two very happy Shih Tzu dogs laying in the back (I think eating bon-bons and laughing in that sly way they have at the human peddling in front of them).

The trail journeys 77 miles along the Greenbrier River and is wonderfully kept up. While we went in early spring, so there were leaves just budding out, I think it would be beautiful at any time. We started at the Caldwell Trailhead, near Lewisburg, which is just under 1.5 hours from the inn. The trail is in great condition even pulling the trailer with the dogs in it. It is a multi-use trail for hiking, biking and horse riding. The roads to getting you there travel through beautiful countryside and many a quaint small town. Extremely worthwhile.
