Wow, we can't believe this is our second Christmas at the Inn! Jeanne began baking holiday treats right after Thanksgiving when daughter, Valerie, came for a bake-a-thon. Two days of kitchen creativity produced ten family favorites from Russian Tea Cookies to Brownie Mounds. The Rum Balls are a hit and lucky guests over the holidays get to sample some of them if family hasn't finished them off first.
We found a wonderful tree at Clover Hollow farm. A 13-footer cut and brought home on a trailer by John with the help of visiting Vermont friends and decorated from scaffolding. What fun to use every ornament from grandparents, ones collected over 50 years and those from the Inn's 13 Christmasses. Our annual Christmas party on December 15 was attended by neighbors and business partners making for a festive and fun evening around the fireplace and tree.
The Inn has also been the hosts for Wine Pairing events featuring Virginia wines and Farm to Table dishes created by Chef Kate Dinger. November highlighted white wines, December highlighted red wines and we eagerly anticipate another fabulous pairing on January 14, 2016. Word of rave reviews got out and the December event sold out and we expect January to sell out as well. There is talk of another in February featuring wine and chocolate. How decadent!
We wish one and all a very Happy New Year! John and Jeanne
