An Outing on the Vine Wine Tour
Winemaking has been a thriving industry in Virginia since 1607 when Jamestown was established with wine in mind! Thomas Jefferson believed that Virginia could be a great state for growing grapes and attempted to bring European grapes to Monticello.

Fortunately, in the past 40 years, six wine grape growing regions have developed and exist today, with over 141 wineries producing a range of wines including Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon to name a few.

To let you enjoy a few of these Virginia wines, we've created a guided tour from Inn at Riverbend to two wineries located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. On the way, your guide will share stories of the past and present of this beautiful land.

Your itinerary for the tour:
10:00 - Depart Inn at Riverbend
11:15 - Arrive at Villa Appalaccia Winery-Enjoy touring, tasting
12:00 - Depart for Chateau Morrisette
12:15 - Enjoy lunch outdoors
1:00 - Wine Tour in the Winery Building
1:30 - Wine Tasting
2:30 - Depart Chateau Morrisette
   Begin return trip with optional stops:
   Blue Ridge Parkway scenic overlook
   Downtown Floyd
   Harvest Moon/Over the Moon Gallery and Cafe
4:30 - Arrive Inn at Riverbend

Cooking with Chef Gio
Head for the kitchen to increase your knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine with Giovanni Guarini, the chef at The Bank Food and Drink. All classes taught in the kitchen of the Inn and include lunch with the chef. $65 per person per class, minimum 2 students, maximum 6 students per class. Advance notice required-subject to the chef's availability.

Fresh Pasta • Learn to make fresh pasta dough with and without eggs including potato gnocchi, ravioli, and spaghetti in this 3 hour class, make everything from scratch, and at the end, cook all pastas with simple  sauces. 10:00-1:00 pm

Bread and Pizza • Learn the preparation of dough for pizza and bread, various techniques for bread, pizza making from a to z, and techniques of baking in this 3 hour class, resulting in fresh baked  bread, pizza and calzones. 10:00-1:00 pm.

Glassblowing at Stafford ArtGlass Studios
Experience the ancient art of glassblowing while enjoying a getaway at Inn at Riverbend. Located just minutes from the inn, Stafford Artglass Studio and Gallery offers classes in all levels of glassblowing. Call to schedule prior to your arrival.  

B.Y.O.B.• Blow Your Ornament Ball-No experience required. Select the colors for your ornament, as Parker shapes the ball, capturing your breathe as you blow into the pipe. Allow 15 minutes.  $27.00 per ornament made

The Paperweight • Make a paperweight of your choosing. Parker guides you through the entire process step by step. Allow 60 minutes  $75.00 per paperweight

Single Day Workshop • Learn the steps in glassblowing resulting in the ornament, a paperweight and a flower. 10:00-4:00  $130.00 per workshop
