Falling In Love With Fall

Pearisburg, located in the New River Valley is home to expansive woodlands, blue-tinged mountains, and winding scenic by-ways and the place to be when colorful autumn leaves are at their fiery peak.  Lucky for us, and the seasonal color seekers, SW Virginia is also sprinkled with state parks, national forests and vast wilderness areas.  For those who prefer to do their “leaf-peeping” on foot, Virginia boasts a staggering 554 miles of the Appalachian Trail – more than any other state.  Giles County also has 37 miles of the New River running through it and kayaking is also great way to see the colors while getting a little fresh air and exercise.

The waterfalls are spectacular during the fall, with Cascades, Dismal and Mills Creek within minutes of Inn at Riverbend.

Here's a color “list” so you can pick out the trees while you're absorbing their beauty.

Tree             Fall Leaf Color

Beech          yellow to orange
Dogwood     scarlet to purple
Hickory        golden bronze
Oak              red. brown, russet
